I started with the Tamiya Sand Scorcher front suspension because it's a scale version of VW suspension. It has to be widened but the suspension arms are the correct length.

To get the wheels to fit, remove the inside centres but pushing a small screw driver through the small hole in the other side of the wheel and bend the clips back (all 4) until the centre comes out.

Dismantle the car and remove the front suspension, once you have cut enough away you can fit the steering servo and front mounting block for the new chassis.

Servo installed, with servo tape.

Servo with mounting block added above it.

The new wheel insert is made with an aluminium disc and an old buggy front wheel.

The wheel is screwed on to the steering stub axle, then the wheel is screwed to the aluminium disc.

Completed wheel, mounted on the front suspension.
You can also see one of the screw holes for the chassis plate to screw to the wooden block.

Completed front suspension.

The aluminium tubes are 4" long and the solid brass bar with screw threads tapped in each end is 4 and 7/32" long.
