5cm Pak 38 - Murrells Models

Gun main pivot, small screw inserted to stop it dropping out but gun can still pivot.

Gun elevation is quite stiff, so I have not changed it.

Glued the handles flat at the tow hook end.

There is a pin which is removed to splay the legs, put a screw in the bottom of it.

Clip the lower part of the shield in the up position.

Cut the existing stub axle off leaving a couple of mm sticking out.

9mm outside dia. brass tube 65mm long.

Glue a piece of dowel into one end of the tube, drill it's centre with a small pilot hole to take a screw which will be used to stop the wheel dropping off.

Pour some epoxy into the stub axle hole, then push in the brass tube all the way and let it dry.

Two roller bearings are used per side, inside dia. = 9mm, outside = 13mm, length =12mm part number HK0912

I could have used a slightly longer bearing, say 14mm would be a neater installation.

They need a hole drilled in the centre and then countersink a small screw which will go into the hole in the stub axle, paint screw head to match wheel colour.

I decided I wanted to keep the removable barrel, as it makes it much smaller for storage.

Glue 2 slim magnets into the gun carriage, as shown in picture.

The bottom of the gun can be removed, drill holes bigger than the magnets in the correct positions, glue some plastic card over the holes and mount another pair of magnets (attracting to the others) on top.

Also put a screw into the underside of the breach block to stop it moving about whilst on the move.
