As you can see the driver figure is too tall to sit on the seat and fit his head under the roof.
I am going to reduce the height of the figure by about half an inch, cutting that much out of his stomach area and then glueing him back together.

This makes the figure 5'6" tall which is fine for a scale person, ( a 12" figure at 1/6 scale = 6' tall)
I have also moved the seat position slightly, as the backs of the seats were broken off when I received the model.

I know the steering wheel is supposed to be inverted on the real thing, but this is a semi-scale project, and it's much easier to mount the wheel upright and to get the figure to grasp it than mounting it inverted.
Also the figures boots have been twisted round backwards so that his feet fit in the hole between the motor and the bulkhead.
The engine bulkhead had to be slightly modified to clear the right hand motor.

This is a tight fit but it will slot back in to place.
Run the motor wires under the bulkhead in the gaps on either side.

It just clears the motor

Take the floor out and make up this track tensioning system, one each side.
Remove the rear side of the trough that the axel sits in, then drill a hole through the front side wall to take the bolt, fit nuts either side and push a spring on to the end of the bolt.
The bolt does not touch the axel but acts as a 'bump stop' for the spring - the firmness of the spring keeps the track tensioned. Notice slot in the side of the halftrack which you have to cut out.

I have also fitted a metal plate on the sloping back which is used to strengthen the area around the tow hook location.
